See it in action
Math Minute is a no-frills arithmetic drill app for iPhone and iPad. Choose an operation, pick a difficulty, and try to solve as many problems as you can before the timer runs out. It’s been on the App Store since 2009 and was fully rewritten for iOS 26 in 2026.
How it works
Pick an operation
The main menu offers five drills:
- Add — addition problems
- Subtract — subtraction problems
- Multiply — multiplication problems
- Divide — division problems with whole-number answers
- All — a randomized mix of the four operations above
Race the clock
Each drill puts one problem at a time on a full-screen number pad with a Clear and an Enter button. The countdown and a progress bar live at the top of the screen, so you always know how much time is left. As soon as you tap Enter, Math Minute scores your answer and pushes the next problem.
Get an instant report
When the minute is up Math Minute shows a results screen with:
- A letter Grade for the round
- Total Problems you attempted
- The split between Correct and Incorrect answers
It’s the same scoring format you’d see on a paper drill — fast to read for kids, useful for grown-ups tracking accuracy under pressure.
Save your best runs
High scores are kept on the device, sorted by operation and session length so you can compare like rounds against like. The Highest Grades screen shows the best result for each drill configuration you’ve played; you can clear the list from Settings whenever you want a fresh start.
Settings
Three controls in the Settings sheet shape every drill:
- Largest Operand — the biggest number that can appear in a problem (10 to 30, default 12). Lower it for younger kids, raise it for harder rounds.
- Session Time — how long each drill lasts (30 seconds to 5 minutes, in 30-second steps).
- Practice Mode — turns off the timer entirely so you can work problems at your own pace, with no clock and no score saved.
All on-device, no accounts, no ads
Math Minute does not require an account, does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not contact any of our servers. Settings and high scores live in standard application storage on your device. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
