Icon Express is a macOS app for turning one source image into a complete App Store-ready icon set for macOS and iOS. It is coming soon.

Common questions

What source image formats are supported?

Icon Express is planned to support PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, TIFF, and HEIC source files. For best results, start with the cleanest original artwork you have, not a small icon that has already been scaled down.

What size should my source image be?

Use a square source image at least 1024×1024 pixels. Larger raster images are fine, and vector sources such as SVG or PDF are even better when your artwork needs to stay sharp at many sizes.

What can Icon Express export?

Icon Express will export common Apple icon package formats, including .iconset, .icns, and .appiconset, so you can drop the result into Xcode or your build process.

Why does the app ask for file access?

Icon Express runs inside the macOS app sandbox. That means it only works with files and folders you choose. If an export fails, make sure you picked a folder where the app has permission to save files.

Why do some generated icons look soft?

Soft icons usually come from a low-resolution or already-compressed source image. Use a 1024×1024 or larger original, and prefer SVG or PDF artwork when the icon has sharp edges, text, or simple shapes.

Reporting bugs

Please include your macOS version, Icon Express version, the source file format, the export format you selected, and what happened. If possible, include a small sample source image that reproduces the issue.
