Every episode, at a glance

Point PodScope at any public RSS feed and your whole back catalog appears — with download and transcription state visible per episode, so you always know what's ready to read.

PodScope is a macOS app for podcast listeners, researchers, and indie publishers. Point it at any public RSS feed and it downloads the episodes, transcribes them on your Mac, separates the speakers, and lets you search every word — all without an account, without uploading audio anywhere, and without a single third-party tracker.

One purchase, everything included

PodScope is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no in-app purchases, no premium tiers, and no usage caps. Buy it once and every feature is yours:

  • Add any podcast from a public RSS feed, organized into as many projects as you like
  • Transcribe on your Mac with a choice of engines — fast (Apple) or higher quality (Whisper)
  • Automatic speaker separation with voice prints — name a speaker once and PodScope recognizes them in every future episode
  • AI recaps — a plain-language summary of every episode, generated locally
  • Full-text search across every word of every transcript, plus titles, descriptions, and recaps
  • Synced playback — tap any line and hear the audio from that moment
  • Export transcripts and metadata as TXT, Markdown, JSON, or CSV
  • Portable projects — export your whole library and re-import it on another Mac
  • Publish a no-track static website — turn an analyzed feed into a self-contained HTML/CSS site with per-episode pages, transcripts, recaps, and built-in search. Drop it on a USB stick or upload it to any web host. No JavaScript trackers, no analytics calls, no external dependencies.

PodScope restores on every Mac signed in to the same Apple ID and is shareable through Family Sharing — one purchase covers up to six family members. See the App Store listing for current pricing.

All on-device, by default

Aside from the one-time model downloads from Apple’s content delivery network, PodScope makes network requests only to the public RSS feeds and audio hosts you tell it to load. Transcription, diarization, AI recaps, voice recognition, and static-site generation all run locally on your Mac. There are no third-party analytics SDKs and no advertising IDs.

If you’d rather use a cloud transcriber, PodScope can optionally connect to your own Microsoft Azure Speech account — it’s off by default, uses your credentials rather than ours, and is the only path that ever sends audio off your Mac. Even then, only transcription runs in the cloud: speaker voice prints and AI recap analysis are always generated locally on your Mac, never sent anywhere. The privacy policy spells out exactly what touches the network and what stays on your Mac.

Requirements

  • macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later
  • Apple Silicon Mac required (Intel is not supported)
  • The fast transcription engine is built into macOS — nothing to download. The optional higher-quality engine (~600 MB) downloads in the background after install, and the AI recap model (~3.5 GB) downloads the first time you generate a recap
